Mechanism Kit £529

The kit contains all the parts and tools you need to assemble and calibrate your instrument, including detailed instructions and a User Guide. This includes a history of the development of the Greek theories of astronomy and how those theories were implemented in the Mechanism. It explains how to use your reconstruction of the Mechanism to track and predict cosmic events.

The kit contains some sharp parts and small components such as screws, etc. Assembling it is not difficult and typically takes 1½ to 2 days. Many people enjoy this and is all part of the experience of learning about and owning one of these instruments. It helps if you have a practical nature and enjoy building complex, intricate things. We provide full support and replacement parts if you run into problems. 

Shipping costs will be calculated and invoiced just prior to despatch. We ship via UPS to all parts of the world. As of Feb 2026, UPS are quoting £50 to ship a kit to the US and £80 to ship a case containing either a kit or an assembled instrument. These charges are DDU, so they include safe delivery of the goods plus transportation expenses and insurance - UPS may invoice you separately for any local taxes and import duties.
